Three cheers for the red, white, and blue... and sand, ocean, pools, and parks! We know that it feels a little weird to be celebrating a three (four?) day weekend while we are still in the times of Covid, but the beaches are open, the sun is shining, and we can’t help but to think about getting out and about.
In fact, why limit our outside fun to just the beach?! In fact, most campgrounds, national parks and hiking trails are opening. Be sure to check the National Park Service to see what’s open near you and what restrictions there may be.
Before you go packing up the minivan and heading into the sunset, there are a few things to look for to make sure you’re headed to the right place:
•Can you drive there?
•If you are heading to the beach or lake, are there lifeguards on duty?
•Plenty of kid-friendly bathrooms?
•A good variety of local attractions nearby?
•Are there family-friendly restaurants nearby?
•Can you rent bikes? Canoes? Are there restrictions
For an amazing trip everyone can enjoy:
•Take it slow. Kids are known dilly-dalliers. Everything will take longer than expected.
•Keep ‘em comfy! An uncomfortable kid is a whiny, unhappy kid.#keepthepeace.
•Don’t forget your Project Sunscreen, sanitizer, and masks!
•Snacks, snacks and more snacks!
•Wear sunscreen. Whether it’s the beach, the ballpark or an amusement park, be sure to roll it on before you all roll out and at least every 2 hours.
