get out & play!
Project Sunscreen and Crayon Collection Challenge You to Have Fun, Do Good
We remember when we were kids, we just played. Didn’t give it too much thought; we just got out there and had fun.
Dr. Stuart Brown, author and founder of the National Institute of Play and an expert on the science of play (!), says, "Play is the vital essence of life." He says that without it, we can lose our hopefulness, and a childhood full of play makes happier, smarter grown-ups, and maintaining the same attitude can make us smarter no matter what age. ("Serious Play" TedTalk, May 2008).
We at Project Sunscreen could not agree more!
In this time of COVID, playtime has taken on new importance. It seems like everyone is outside hiking, biking, working out, and recharging their batteries.
We have partnered with Crayon Collection, a non-profit organization whose mission is to instill environmental consciousness and provide art education for all children through the act of recycling crayons. Together, we challenge you to "Get Out & Play!"
Project Sunscreen and Crayon Collection are issuing a social media challenge, urging everyone to play, explore, and help care for the environment while you are at it.
Here's how it works:- Get Out & Play, literally. Go, have some fun!
- Tell us where you are, whatever makes you happy. It can be silly; it should be fun!
- While you're at it let’s do something to take care of our planet! Grab a video of you and your crew picking up trash, planting some trees/flowers, or riding a bike.
- Upload with some or all of the following hashtags and tag #ProjectSunscreen and #CrayonCollection

Project Sunscreen & Crayon Collection believe that teaching children about the environment is vital, and outdoor play, is the perfect medium. This includes teaching them about the ecosystem, caring for our oceans and reefs, global warming, and sun safety, plus the simple things we can all do to care for the planet.
This is the first step to create the next generation of global communitarians (community + humanitarian).
